Venue28 Rehearsals (last updated 20th October 2021)
This area provides our central location for holding information relevant to the rehearsals taking place at our temporary Covid secure venue. This is a consolidation of various emails issued by David Charlesworth, Andrew Rixon and Mike Gray regarding logistical and musical instruction.
Note :Links to the various documents are provided here rather than embedded information as all documents are "living" versions subject to change to keep in line with government regulations and guidelines at any point in time.
Background (from 13/10/2020 onwards)
A special Covid sub-committee within the band was formed back in May/June 2020 to focus on activities that would restart the playing experience following the country wide lockdown imposed in March 2020. Following some success in getting groups of 6 playing locally, the attention switched to finding a Covid secure venue to enable full band rehearsals to resume.
Venue28 (based at 28 Beckenham Road, Beckenham, Kent BR3 4LS) is our chosen venue for now based on their risk assessment.
Layered on top of that is the Covid secure risk assessment for the Band using a comprehensive template provided by Making Music.
Since Wednesday 8th September 2021 the bands have returned to separate rehearsals with the following timings :
18:30 to 18:45 Progress Band setup
18:45 to 20:00 Progress Band rehearsal
20:00 to 20:15 Progress Band exit
20:15 to 20:30 Main Band setup
20:30 to 21:45 Main Band rehearsal
21:45 to 22:00 Main Band exit
Call to rehearse (as at September 2021)
Muzodo invites to the rehearsal are now split out into separate requests from the Progress Band and the Main Band.
In the normal way, please indicate your intentions (YES or NO) to attend so we can plan accordingly and have a list of attendees for COVID security.
Band Music Pads will be issued but please also bring your own music used for the integrated band.
Following the relaxation of the COVID rules regarding social distancing etc, we have moved to the following approach for our rehearsals.
1) While masks are not mandatory, we strongly request as a courtesy to others that masks are worn as we have been doing on entry and exit and moving around the hall.
2) We will not be issuing a Health Questionnaire. However, as before, we expect everyone to take personal responsibility to self-exclude if any of the questions that previously we have asked in the health questionnaire are answered with a yes.
Here are those questions for the avoidance of doubt:
a. Do you have any Covid symptoms?
b. Have you been in close contact with anyone who has tested positive for Covid?
c. Have you been contacted by the national test and trace service and told to isolate?
d. Have you returned from abroad and been told to quarantine?
3) We strongly discourage the sharing of stands, instruments and music. Please continue to bring your own
4) Please at all times be conscious of some people’s nervousness relating to the removal of mandatory social distancing etc. whilst queuing and generally interacting with others.
Venue28 Layout Familiarisation
At great expense, David Charlesworth has recorded 3 videos to assist with understanding the layout of the Venue 28.
(David apologises for the 90 degree flip of the phone on the “Tour of Venue 28” !)
