Nicholas Garman:
Good warm sounds – however I don’t hear the 2nd quaver of the 1st bar very clearly.
Make sure 1 before A everyone finishes together.
A - Var 1 doesn’t start quite together – good control of semiquavers.
Var 2 - Well done solo horn. D – listen to balance 2nd tbn/2nd bari.
F + G work very well. Tuning before Var 3 not quite accurate.
Var 3 - 5 of H – Careful tuning basses/euph. I – tuning in upper cornets is a little flat.
Var 4 - J – horns tuning … Very well controlled into Var 5.
Well done euph/1st tbn/solo horn - tuning …
K – not all quavers move together but lovely phrasing + musicality – thank you MD.
Appassionata is fairly soft for ‘ff’.
Var 6 – not entirely accurate beginning (tbn) + same wrong notes M (cornet). It’s also almost 20 bpm under tempo.
4 before Var 7 tbn tuning … Var 7 doesn’t start very well (rhythmic issues).
I hear the MD trying to pull back the rushing – band, please don’t get over excited !!
Good close at T.
Var 8 – generally in tune but it’s very loud for ‘p’. U – try to sustain all parts and stagger where necessary. Very good close.
Finale – starts well – cymbal 259 ? Glock 2 before X ? X is Ok but sounds a little hesitant.
Y - Z good but cornets are fading into the background – good sop.
Good last chord – almost in tune. Percussion last note are / is almost apologetic – it’s ‘fff’!!
Thank you for your performance which had much to admire. The occasional intonation problems distracted and there were a few glaring errors but overall, well done.
